I missed a blog somewhere ( Math Importance)
I missed the math importance blog so I decided to do it now. I feel that the article is right when it talks that many students today do not know enough math. While I do sympathize with the article I must voice my own opinion. As a student who does not like math, and really didn't do to good in high school with math. I think that the way math need to be taught should be redesigned. many students feel overwhelmed when it come to math. I think this is because at first there is just so much to learn. Not to mention the presence of calculators gives students a mentality that they essentially never really need to know math, because at the end of the day they have a calculator. So with that in mind, I feel that the way math is taught should deficiently be redesigned.
Diversity.
Todays more and more people are coming out of the closet and identifying themselves as gay. While many people have different opinions as to if being gay is acceptable. Advertisers have to decide on their own how to reach this growing population. While I feal that gays and lesbians are not well represented or for the fact of the matter not really represented at all in advertising. Advertisers face a dilemma of whether or not to advertise to them, after all they are a growing population. Also advertisers have to tip toe around advertising to this target group. If seems that if an advertisers does try to advertise to this group it seems that often times they fear backlash if the advertisement is not done if good taste. This might put fear in some companies as well as advertisers minds on how or whether or not to advertise towards gays and lesbians.
Brewery Ipa
It seem like today more and more brewers are trying different things to get new consumers. They have different op ions when it comes to beer. While many consumers feel that brewers should have a bigger is better mentality brewers feel that it is not necessarily considering they dont want it to be more like a frat party. While it seems more and more of these small brewers are popping up all over the country. consumer's feel that taste is better than popularity. Small times brewers are taking this into consideration with many of them coming up with unique taste and a various line of beer. This may be a good time for brewers as well as consumers. Considering your a college student or a drunk.
CPM
For this blog assignment we were asked to figure out the cpm and the cpp for the super bowl ads. Although advertising in the super bowl may seem like a lucrative opportunity for companies. It is not always the case. For instance reaching your prime target audience might work better on cable tv reaching them via a specific media show. Not just an overall ubundance show like the super bowl. Here are the results for the super bowl..Total views =97.5 million ratings of 43.1
2. A. 184.6 B. 696,056(000), while this may seem good compare it too American idol. American Idol cpm 10.68 CPP19, 637.46 and compared to Dancing with the stars 9.114,044.54,Desperate Housewives 17.432,773.109,CSI 18.48 30, 973.45,Grey's Anotomy 24.4937,128.21. It just may seem better to go a diffrent route in reaching your target audience.

The SuperBowl.....Not Just For Football
As many of you know the superbowl was this past Sunday. I am not gonna lie first I would like to say that this years superbowl is one of the best if not the best I have ever seen. Although my bears didn't make it into the superbowl. Although a big football fan I had to kind of separate myself from the rest of my party in order to avoid talking football during the commercial breaks and watch the actual commercials. It seems that year after year the most affective ads are for BEER. I found this not to be the case this year. Overall I think the commercials were so horrible compared to previous years. Nothing really caught my eye and nothing really stood out. Though this assignment is not which ads were good or which ads were bad. But whether they worked as a whole. Most of the money was not well spent, commercials tried to be funny but failed tried to flaunt sex but really couldn't pull it off, and tried to be appealing but couldn't be. I broke it down to three commercials that I think were overall affective and well overall got the best reaction from my crowed of friend. I feel that the crowed of friends gathered around my house is very diverse that why I picked the top three they generally accepted and took time out of talking football to talk about them. From now on I will call them "my party"
NUMBER 1
So Easy - E*TRADE
This is number one overall best reaction with my party. At first everyone shut up when they heard this baby talking like an adult. Not to mention its just funny to see a baby talking on a webcam, and as it progressed the slowely got drawn into the commercial, only to find out that it was about buying stock and how easy it was to use that a baby could do it. It employs just the right amount of humor and not to mention the baby barfing at the end. Very good work Etrade....They also had another add similar to this, that one was just as affective and I will combine both of those into this Number 1.
Number 2
Parade Balloons - Coca-Cola
This was another great well placed add. Money well spent for a number of different reasons. You attrack such a broad audience. One you have adults and teens who love family guy, older adults who love peanuts, younger crowed with Underdog, Macys is thrown in their with the parade all with the great taste of COKE. Not to mention the ad ran twice and not to mention the ad is a 60 second spot. This was also a great ad.
Number 3
Diet Pepsi Max: Nod - Pepsi-Cola
Sorry Pepsi you came in second to coke. This again is the third best ad of the superbowl it incorporates different elements and also used well placed spokespeople. Not to mention a song that most of the younger generation can relate to from a movie that is very popular among a younger generation that Pepsi is aiming for.
Over all the commercials this year were horrible with the exception of the ones mentioned.......I was really disappointed but at least we got a good game. But seriously go bears.....
SIDE NOTE: PLEASE PLEASE never make a boaring commercial like this again....This was to long, it was trying to hard to become like a mini movie so intense and yet at the end you just want it to end.....Shame on you Under Armor....shame on you.....

So I guess JWT is the Nostradamus of the "WHATS HOT LIST"
This past year we saw so many damn things, like Apple releasing the best mobile phone since the mobile phone. Singers going crazy ala Brittany Spears, Al Gore winning the Nobel Peace Prize; Jennifer Hudson winning the Oscar. Well according to big time advertising firm JWT, who recently put out its things to watch list in 08, they know and have an insight of whats ahead and what will be the most popular attractions of 2008. Exactly how do they know this? Well it baffles even me but according to Diego Vasquez's article entitled, Revealed: The way hot trends of 2008. You should be paying attention to them and listening to their advise in order to be on top of the latest whats hot in the world. The article states that every year JWT produces a list of whats really going to be popular in the coming year. This years list includes things such as Gossip Girl, Dj Tiesto, Couch Surfing, Video gaming Olympics, and Women Juggling men. WOW, that is just but a sample, I can honestly tell you that any list that includes Couch surfing is ok with me.
( to be honest I don't even know what that is) My point being that as much as you
and I think this list is nothing more than the popular kids saying who they will let into their group this year, it's kind of an intriguing list. To get the full list of the top 80 things to look for in 08 just click HERE. Oh yeah keep and eye out for Tequila as the new wine, that just has all sorts of trouble written on it.
According to the list Hybrid Taxis are supposedly going to be big this year! Well I googled Hybrid Taxi and thats the first image that came up.
